On a recent trip to Barcelona, me and my best friend were packing our suitcases only to realise we had the same problem… Everything was black! Apart from a pop of colour or pattern here and there, most items were black! We both noticed and didn’t think it was a particularly positive thing- we weren’t goths (anymore)! But then it got me thinking; why is wearing all black such a bad thing? Why do women feel guilty or boring for wearing a solid black outfit? If you wear it right, it can look chic, flattering, classic and always fashionable. Black never goes out of fashion. That LBD, your favourite black skinnies, those black heels you can wear with everything! If we look through our wardrobes almost all of our fail-safe clothing options are black. Look at our icons, Coco Chanel who created the LBD and Audrey Hepburn are known for wearing black! It’s classic!

Black is in the fashion spotlight at the moment with monochrome making a massive comeback. Wear as much or as little white with it as you like and you will be bang on trend and look like you’ve walked off any SS13 catwalk! If I’m completely honest, I love black on its own but the funky checkerboard prints and bold patterns do sway me and it’s easy to create a whole new look. Add some white heels or handbag to any black outfit and it transforms it entirely.

Black doesn’t mean boring, just make sure you mix up your look. I think, if you accessorise well, decide on the look you’re going for and add a great pair of shoes; black is always a winner!

  1. I’ve come to the conclusion the contents of my wardrobe is 99% black!
    It’s the way forward I agree 🙂

  2. Black will never go out of fashion – it just needs a few little embellishments or updates to keep up with the latest trend. As you show – it’s how you put it together and wear it that makes the difference. Fabulous!
